While my travel bucket list is endless, my wife had one place she wanted to target for our annual family trip - the Olympic Coast, which is perfect for me as it is filled with foggy forests, moody beaches, and wildlife abound. These photos were taken in the spring of 2022 around the Olympic peninsula and the San Juan Islands and this area quickly shot up into my top five for the US.

It was an incredible journey through Washington’s wild edge. We roamed the rugged shores of the Olympic Coast and then took the ferry toward calm, misty waters in the San Juans. Tides and fog set the tone every day, sea stacks towered the wide-open shoreline covered with driftwood, and the quiet harbors carved out slow afternoons. Eagles circled overhead and orcas breached the ocean - wildlife everywhere. And each stop along the route offered something new.

This was a reminder that beauty often hides in the balance between movement and stillness. And always listen to your wife..
