While my travel bucket list is endless, my wife had one place she wanted to target for our annual family trip - the Olympic Coast, which is perfect for me as it is filled with foggy forests, moody beaches, and wildlife abound. These photos were taken in the spring of 2022 around the Olympic peninsula and the San Juan Islands and this area quickly shot up into my top five for the US.
It was an incredible journey through Washington’s wild edge — from the rugged shores of the Olympic Coast to the calm, misty waters of the San Juans. Tides and fog set the tone, revealing sea stacks, driftwood, and quiet harbors where eagles circled overhead and orcas breached the ocean. Each stop offered a new texture — salt air, mossy trails, ferry crossings — stitched together by long light and endless horizons.
This was a reminder that beauty often hides in the balance between movement and stillness.
