Growing up, I spent several weeks of the year with my family in Peru. It was mostly in the summer or holidays over winter break. Among the most memorable places I still visit is my grandfather’s horse farm, a few hours north of Lima, el Haras San Pablo. We generally head up for an overnight trip, sometimes it’s a sizable gathering. Here I learned to understand, ride, and love horses.  This place was a big part of my growing up.

There are three sets of these photos in this story. The first was taken in September 2022 when I went to spend one night with my grandfather. This was shot only on film. The other two were taken in June 2023, when most of my family headed up - this also was the first time our daughter visited Peru. This time was special, watching her run and roam. The second set is digital from this trip, the third is film.
