An excerpt from the preface…
It’s August and the mountain roads are well into the wear of the season, washed out and over-visited. There’s a soft stillness hanging in the air – a certain calm from the lingering fog webbed through the aspens. Truly adrift, watching the sky’s palette stretch across the sky, the faint flitter of fallen leaves is lightly carried by the wind. Some days, you can already feel autumn’s turns settling in – the cold and quiet that rests on the trees. These forests always wake before the dawn breaks. I set off into the dark.
This setting begs for reverence – the mountains set the pace. The light is constantly moving, shifting the landscape and reshaping the scenery. The days are long, filled with infinite opportunity to explore and interpret this magnificence. Photography is my way of self-expression when the right words cannot be found. Unsure of what’s to come, I battle through hesitance and excitement and aspiration, longing for the right instant, drawn to the pressure released by the shutter click. Each frame captured is a slow, persistent search ready to tell its story.
