August is a collection of photographs taken in the Rockies across Colorado and Wyoming, only during the month of August over several years.  This book recounts my summers exploring these two beautiful states -- it imprints a period in our lives we will forever keep. 

The book is broken up into five parts, each carrying a theme: Outward, Apart, Pioneers, Endure, and Still.  August begins examining our innate draw toward nature (Outward) and the desperation to find solitude far from civilization (Apart) to familiarize and create.  But, inevitably, people carry their weight, determined to colonize the world and call it their own (Pioneers).  Only after we have moved on, until our time has passed, can nature return and thrive (Endure).  And once we are gone and all is calm, we are left to revisit the stories of our journeys through memories -- those that live on in photographs (Still). 

This photobook only features photographs taken on film as this felt more personal and in touch with the moments this book presents and preserves.  All the photographs were exposed on Kodak, Cinestill, and Ilford film using a Mamiya C220, Nikon FE, and Canon AE1 Program, and were developed and scanned at Bellows Film Lab in Miami, Florida.
