Star trails on film are always a shot in the dark, and this was my first try. Straight from the airport, my best friend and I picked up a van in LA, drove north, and grabbed the first open spot we could find before we lost the light. That night nothing was working: the shots felt flat, and I crashed my drone on its very first flight. With a few frames left on the roll, I walked out over the sagebrush, pointed the camera straight up, did some semi-simple math with a reciprocity app, said a prayer and opened the shutter. I never thought it would come out like this.
