Nothing makes me happier than bringing people to the places I love, so this morning I dragged my mom out to watch the sunrise at Piney Lake. We stood on the shore while a light fog slid across the water, trout rippled the surface feeding on insects, and geese drifted toward the far end. I have photographed this lake many times, and each visit I take the shot I came for, then look around for what I might walk right past. This time it was a long lens on the far shore, the trees doubled in still water. Look closely: there’s a bald eagle perched at the top of the tall dead pine near the center.
