My fingers were numb and the wind was beating down, but I was not leaving until the last of the light was gone. The first time I came to Monument Valley, I had no idea how magical it would be; it is one of those places you check off a list, and then it becomes a place you have to come back to. So I drove back from Colorado through the ever-changing desert for a single night and brought my cousins along. We stayed through sunset and into the dark, until everything turned this rich blue.
