Devils Tower National Monument | Wyoming

At sunrise, gold light bounced off the columns of Devils Tower and spread across the meadow and its solitary pines. I had stood in this same spot once before and had been dying to get back. That summer of 2022, with the pandemic still hanging over everything, the whole mission was to get out of South Florida. Driving from Miami to Colorado, we detoured north through South Dakota and Wyoming, my mom riding along so I wouldn’t drive alone and so she could finally see some of the places I keep disappearing to.
