I walked down Mormon Row in the dark, kicking stones, looking for the right barn to frame the Tetons, and settled on a new angle with tall grass in the foreground. When the light came, the clouds caught color and the first rays hit the barn in burnt orange, leading the eye straight to the peaks. I’d only ever seen Mormon Row at sunset, so on this quick pass-by on the way to Yellowstone, we gave Jackson the night it deserves and were back out before dawn to see the range lit from the east.
