// During these uncertain times, life altering change has been thrust upon us. "Dunes Day" allowed me to reflect on where we are and where we are headed. // Dunes are as breathtaking as they are harsh. They drive me to think about how natural it is for there to be difficult times where you want to give up or accept a status quo, ignoring or fighting back change. // When climbing dunes, every step feels like a lifetime: a slow trudge over ever-shifting sand that keeps pushing you back down. From afar they look innocent - welcoming, even. Warm, golden. But, while seemingly impossible to overcome, the challenge is worth the reward. // As we are, as the world always is, dunes are in a constant state of change. We will remain in this state, for our brief moment in eternity. We are all in constant motion, in perpetual dance, bounded by our nature, longing to survive. // All change is relative, but must be overcome.//

// I’ve walked many miles through the Yosemite Valley, along the banks of the Merced, always in awe of the magic around me. I am drawn to the water that flows here. // “Along the Merced” is a collection of ten photographs dedicated to the calm and pure joy I have harnessed from this little river that flows so far west from me, cutting through granite giants, wrapped around towering pines. // It is an inspiring place; one I think of often. // Each visit to this beautiful park is different but fall and winter will forever be the most special to me. // In the fall, the water is silent and still, and you can watch the reflections take eternal shape, surrounded by golden leaves. // In the winter, the water rages dark through a monochrome white wonderland. // I chose these photographs, taken during my two favorite seasons, to share the magic I have discovered here, hoping others will understand what I must have felt in the moment. // I often forget about the world, Along the Merced.//
